About woodturning

Nature creates amazing things. What a unique picture the surface of the wood has, what a wonderful material for masters was made by nature. When you hold the piece of wood in your hands — you see nothing unusual. But when you have processed and polished it, an indescribable beauty opens to you. To reveal the uniqueness of every piece of wood is my main task.

So how these handicrafts, presented in the gallery, are made? A turning machine holds and revolves the workpiece. A wood turner, using lathe tools, removes every extra material layer. They say it is an easy job –turning machine does everything. But I don’t agree with this statement. Everything depends on the wood turner and the accuracy of his movements. It takes one slip of a hand and long hours of hard work will be wasted. The years of studying, hard work and persistence are needed to become a good wood turner. Also his work is rather unfavorable for the health. Plenty of wood dust is emitted during the polishing process, while the work with paint films is also dangerous. But when you feel the finished silky product with your hands everything else leaves on the second plan and only the main thing remains: happiness of your participation in the miracle of the revival of the particle of nature — wood — in its new quality.
